CONKLIN and ENDICOTT, N.Y. — The North East Fabricare Association (NEFA) and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Cleaners (MAC) are joining forces to stage a Summer Leadership Summit on July 17-18.
The Thursday-Friday event geared toward owners, managers and key personnel will offer presentations, workshops, and tours of Cleaners Supply and Wedding Gown Preservation Co.
NEFA Executive Vice President Peter Blake calls it “an incredible opportunity,” one the associations expect to be extremely popular: “We had a similar program about a year ago and the response was amazing.
“While we have some excellent educational sessions lined up, one of the main draws is the opportunity to tour the two facilities. It is really eye-opening to see the procedures they have in place and the systems they have implemented. When we toured Wedding Gown Preservation last year, they had over 11,000 gowns on premises and attendees were enthralled with the packaging, cleaning process and the overall capabilities.”
The Cleaners Supply tour officially kicks off the Summit at 4 p.m. July 17. Afterward, the business will share its extensive training program implemented for its team members, then attendees are invited to dinner.
On July 18, the program opens at 8 a.m. with a complimentary breakfast and networking opportunity. Jennifer Whitmarsh will present “Defining and Developing a Leader in Today’s World.” Using her experience as a team leader, business owner, and consultant, Whitmarsh will explore strategies to develop leadership skills.
Dave Coyle of Maverick Drycleaners will present “Delight Your Clients — The Art of Exceeding Expectations.” Competition is fierce in the marketplace, and Coyle will explore ways cleaners can differentiate themselves from the rest of the industry.
After lunch is provided, attendees will tour Wedding Gown Preservation Co. The program is scheduled to end by 3 p.m.
For those needing accommodations, the associations have secured rooms at Traditions Hotel and Spa in Johnson City, New York.
